Stop Racism – Look Who is Talking

Recent attacks on Indians in Australia have caused quite a buzz in media. It is really disturbing that these things have happened. I have lived in Sydney for quite some time. I used to love my walk to work from Milson Point to Kent Street over Harbour bridge. The Sunday Luch at Lighthouse on Watson Bay was a usual affair. The surprise element is that these lunches were never with Indians but with Australians. When I moved into the neighborhood it was an Australian Kid next door who helped me unpack the stuff in my new home. I still refuse to believe the monstrous image of Australians which has been created by Indian media.

I somehow do not understand that why Indian media is making such a big issue of attacks by some crazy people. These attacks are not the reflection of Australian culture. It is the act of some sick people and trust me most Australians feel the same. Australian culture as I know is very friendly.

However Indian Media and politicians have made this issue of national pride. They say Australia is racist while forgetting that India remains one of the biggest rascist country of the world. Indians discriminate against their own countrymen.

India discriminates the most on the basis of skin colour. Indians look their own country men with contempt if they have dark colour. Skin fair creams for both men and women sell like hot cakes in India, everyone wants to be fair . More than 99% of their movie stars are fair in colour. And Indians call Australians rascist.

Indians discriminate each other on religion, castes and even sub-castes. Hardly you will find any inter-caste or inter religion marriages in India. Sindhi matrimony, Punjabi matrimony etc. are some of the online matrimonial portals. Inter- religion marriages are big taboo. In fact killing couples for inter- religion marriage in India is quite common. They call it ‘Honour Killing’. Ever heard of this in Australia, UK or US? And Indians call Australians rascist.

Indians discriminate based on language. There is constant fight over national language and some of the states have refused to accept Hindi as a national language. North Indians vs. South Indians is a constant war. People from North and South simply hate each other.

Indians discriminate their East Indians folks. They call them Chinese and ‘Chinky’. How rude. East Indian girls are often mistreated in public buses and even denied entries in Five Star hotels and discotheques.

Kashmiri Pandits were massacred and forced to evacuate Jammu and Kashmir throughout the 80s and 90s while the Indian government remained a mute spectator. Numerous instances happen in India where Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs kill each other.

Last year I was in Mumbai, a city in Maharashtra state of India, Some people were on the streets campaigning against people from other state. They wanted that all the Indians who had migrated to their state should leave immediately. They alleged that the immigrants took away native’s jobs, subsidies etc. A dozen of migrants were killed and Scores injured. And if Australians are doing the same why are Indians making such hue and cry.

Above, The Maharashtrians political people beat up North Indians in Maharashtra, forcing them to go back to their own cities.
Having looked at some of the images above, I can only praise Australians that at least they do not torture their own countrymen.

And do Indian students behave responsibly in Australia? Let us look at the profile of an average Indian student in Australia. While some of them are really brilliant and study hard, most of them are just there because they could not make it to Indian universities, but since their fathers are rich and can spend 4-5 million Indian rupees, they travel to Australia. In Australia they spend half of their time in Pubs and what not places. They drink at beaches and other public banned places, ogle and make passes at women. No wonder they offend most of the people abroad.

Any form of Racism is bad and there is no justification whatsoever for it. But as they say clean your own house first!

  1. Most stupid blog of recent times .. and the award goes to .... surprise surprise .. THIS ONE!!

You neither know the harsh realities of Australia nor back in India. Putting the house in order starts with you.. so first get your facts right!!

"North Eastern girls not allowed in indian discs" - Check out the Page 3 party fotos dude.. u will find half the women being chinky (as u call them)

Just because you can pick up incidents in India doesnt make Aussie attacks a saintly act. India media have condemned and made a big deal of whatever incidents you just quoted. That's how you knew it sitting in Sydney and taking a walk over Harbour Bridge. Today, Indian Media is treating the atrocities in Australia the same way and rightly so.

Wait for the day when you get attacked by some white skinhead and maybe you will think of packing your stuff to be back in this racist country called India.

  2. Good that someone dared to raise this issue. Manish.. people like you have narrow mentality. Why do we need to be so defensive about it. I mean, yes we are a society divided by caste,. we vote in the name of caste religions and sometimes for money as well.. The point is let's agree that there is a problem, then only we can improve it.

  3. We Indians have problems of division but we are solving it gradually. Whether they would remain or go away remains to be seen. However, I have read about the Indians getting attacked and they have vehemently asked everyone not to live in Australia. Maybe at the time you stayed, things were pretty cool. Maybe now, aussies are targeting Indians. And media is reporting it. Whats wrong. Also, who is to gain by false reporting or making up stories?

  4. Mr. Anonymous,

If you get the tone and note of the above blog, you should understand who is trying to be defensive here. I am all for total media reporting. What's wrong in reporting what's happening there!! It's better knowing than not knowing anything at all and the issues brushed under the carpet.

As far as my narrow mentality, you will have better standing of commenting on me if you disclose your identity. Crap-shooting-from-hiding is all you can enjoy like this!! So, come out and talk sense here. Put facts and discuss. Your comment is abysmally generic and low on hard content.

So, dude (or I am afraid dudette) come out in open and let's have an "open" discussion.

  5. Dear Manish

The blogger had simple point whether Indians need to do some introspection or not. Blogger is nowwhere justifying Racism.

The Hoopla that has been created is shameful. Instead of devoting their energies to bring out the plight of poors, dalits and underpriviliged it is marketing itself by pleading for those rich brats who fled the country for PR in Australia.

Simply because the blogger pulled out some of the skeletons, it has hurt some pseudos a lot.

  6. Vinay, you are quite right. Some of the Australians are already doing it. However Media which is always lacking stories needs such masala. Media - electronic as well as print gain a lot from these issues.

  7. Dearest Sakina85,

The blogger's simple point is getting complex by comparing one atrocity with another. Mine is a even simpler point of media reporting all the issues indiscrimantly with no prejudice. I will oppose media reporting something which never happened. But, if it happened and media reported it, it's better than not being reported at all.

As per the "rich brats" theory, I dont agree. There are students from very humble families who go to study abroad in hope of a rewarding career. Their families put in whole life's earnings and sometimes even take loans to do so. I am not justifying this action but just letting you know that it isnt just about rich students here.

Somehow, I dont understand why we always blame of wrong-doing when some party stands to be benefitted. It's true that media gets benefitted by these news but at the same time the society also gets benefitted by free dissemination of information to the common man. There is nothing wrong in it till the media doesn't report INCORRECT facts. In this case, the media is not reporting fictitous incidents. There are students who are getting beaten up and media is reporting just that.

Media companies make news out of it and stand to benefit monetarily. We stand to gain from it by knowing all these cautionary tales of foreign society and taking sweet picture of foreign lands with a pinch of salt. It's a win-all situation and nothing is inherently wrong in it.

There are people who speak more and hear less and there are some who read less and write comments more.

Well there are some incidents that are happening, but a lot of mischievious ppl are taking the advantage of this situation. Yesterday and elderly australian lady was threatened by her Indian tenants. The tenant couple asked her to reduce their rent else they would go and complaint against racial abuse.

Now what kind of behaviour is this. In all this issue the loss is of Indian community only. Australia does not earn too much from Indian students. Given the size and influence of Australia 2 bn dollars is just the peanuts. But if we continue to antagonise them by such acts India will loose more. Many Indians are suffering from what i would say "Sudden Wealth Syndrome". Its plain Jingoism if you feel that Australian economy will suffer if Indians come back or they are afraid of Indians eating up their jobs.

  11. Indians are atrociously obnoxiously sanctimonious. Will never own up their mistakes. I am also an Indian born & brought up in India. Know them too well.

Every other country is definitely more humane & decent than india. This is what I have come to know.

Thank God for internet. A total stranger , an Australian woman offered her advice for FREE for a formidable health problem ( it is still very much insurmountable for all)I faced. I shall ever remain ETERNALLY grateful to her.

I have come across many Whites (non indians) offering precious advice/suggestions/ideas for FREE. Unlike indians who are avaricious , holier than thou , spiteful & absolutely incorrigible. Ill mannered also. Would not reply to email.Would never return a phone call. Supercilious. I HATE most indians.

  12. Holier than thou Indians breastbeating & crying " racism " pay attention. This happened in India. Also remember an Australian lady who had visited India to visit Brahmakumari Institution was brutally tortured & murdered by two indians (hindus). Also don"t forget , an Australian girl in Mumbai during new year revelry was disrobed & molested in the presence of a lot of fellow indians oops mumbaikars. . Many were busy videotaping . None did anything to stop or save her. Spare me non internalised quotations from Scriptures please Godforsaken indians !!!

  13. I want to say it again .I HATE most indians . Yess. No other way I can seek solace.

  14. If you really bother to take a closer look at Indians ( of any religion) your love for most of them would evaporate. Such egregious disconnect between their words & actions.

I feel most of them are long dead vampires & ghouls. Why do they make this pretentious show of worshipping Gods & celebrating festivals ?

It tantamounts to slapping the very Lord Shiva Himself !!!

  15. I completely agree with the blogger..

I faced more discrimitaion in India than in US and Canada. Latest news from Maharashtra is sick. Citizens of India (especially from Bihar), are being forced out of maharashtra. Reason being that biharis are bringing the cost of labor down..

The same Marathi people come to US and work on H1 visa.. if they are sooo nationalist, why the hell dont they ALLL go back to Maharashtra and work there... the simple reason is that there are some sick people in Maharashtra who are doing all the political shit.

I have marathi friends who completely oppose to what is going on in Maharashtra. Now there are other examples but main fact beind is that Indians are too much into discrimination.

Of course this does not mean that I will say whats happening in Australia is correct.. HELL NO.. Things are needed to be sorted out but Indians should act before pointing fingers at someone else.

  16. I completely agree with the blogger. I am an Indian who has lived abroad and travelled abroad and the only place where I feel unsafe is India. It is also the only place on Earth where the citizens discriminate against other citizens, while sucking up to the whites - who anyway cant stand most of us.
We need to learn how to behave, how to conduct ourselves in public and how to mind our own business.
If we resent our treatment in Australia so much, well why don't we come back to the wonderful country we call "home" where we can continue to be a "superior know it all"
